The procession begins with all of the participants winding their way through the steep hilly streets of the village with a band accompanying. Spectators join and follow them as they make their way toward the plaza. Once there, the dancing begins. Women and young girls spend countless hours creating splendid baskets of flowers to dance with, some with centerpieces of crosses, stars, hearts and seahorses. All are adorned in many different types of traditional finery.
